The Goal of Cosmetic Dentistry

The goal of cosmetic dentistry is to give you a fabulous smile! This is done by analyzing every aspect of your smile, then correcting any problems.

What is Cosmetic Dentistry

There are many reasons why people choose cosmetic dental procedures. Crooked teeth, injuries, malformed bite or just to improve their overall appearance. Cosmetic dentistry is fast becoming an important part of the dental profession. In the past 5 years alone, teeth whitening procedures have tripled.

Cosmetic dentistry procedures include;

  • Cosmetic Fillings A natural looking filling made from porcelain and composite resins to match your own tooth colour, replacing the regularly used silver ones.
  • Whitening/Bleaching Stained teeth from food, tobacco etc. can be reversed with this procedure.
  • Veneers Thin laminates are used to cover stains, discoloured or slightly damaged teeth.
  • Bonding An enamel that coats your teeth, closes gaps and improves the colour of a tooth.
  • Cosmetic contouring and reshaping An easy way that corrects chipped , crooked and cracked teeth, even overlapping teeth.
  • Crowns Normally porcelain made caps to place on top of the tooth to improve it's function and appearance. It can also be used to prevent a cracked tooth getting worse.
  • Crown Lengthening Used to reshape gums and bone tissue to correct a “gummy” smile.
  • Bridges Gaps created by missing teeth are filled using this procedure. Using dental appliances in a natural colour, the contour and bite of your teeth are restored.
  • Speciality Dentures Synthetic teeth made to copy the look and feel of natural teeth. These are lightweight and can be partial or complete sets.
  • Excessive or Uneven Gums Uneven gum lines or exposed roots can be corrected using gum lifts or soft tissue grafts.
  • Ridge Augmentation This procedure smooths dents and deformations in the gum line.
  • Grafts Using tissue from the palate is surgically implanted to correct severe gum disease, exposed roots and gum recession, as well as painful root sensitivity.
  • Replacement of Lost Gum Tissue Corrected by soft tissue grafts.
  • Implants Synthetic structure anchored in the root area of the tooth. An alternative to partial dentures.
